The Tip Off Classic history began back in January of 2004. The Breakdown Staff wanted to showcase teams from across the state and provide unique, competitive matchups. We also wanted to have top rated teams with state tournament aspirations. This little experiment worked out so well that now we host the #1 single day classic in Minnesota.
On January 17th, 2004, the tiny team from Ulen-Hitterdal played metro giant Hopkins. Hopkins won the game by 2 points, but most importantly, fans , coaches, and media members in attendence called it the best high school basketball game they have ever seen! From 2 games to 2 weekends to now 4 nights of basketball, The Breakdown Tip Off Classic is must see event for fans of Minnesota High School Basketball.

MVP of the Classic: Hannah Linz, EV-W
Of all the talented players who took the court this past weekend, no one meant more to their team than Hannah Linz from EV-W. Linz scored and 33 and 40 respectively for the Eagles who had an impressive win over Becker Friday, and even more impressive demolition of defending state champion Ada-Borup.
